I appreciate your response. In my summer course, I did teach Turing's essay, Weizenbaum's ELIZA essay, and Weizenbaum's later response or, better, reconsideration. I am currently co-authoring a book on ELIZA. So, surely I agree with you that these texts are valuable. But, yes, I needed something snappy for the intro to this piece.
